Bronze Medical Commander

Command and Control

  • Receive orders from Silver Medical Commander
  • Start log of actions
  • Confirm Primary Triage Officer (PTO) /Triage Team leaders
  • Confirm location of bronze cordon and 4C’s have actioned

Safety

  • Take responsibility for all medical personnel and casualties within the bronze area
  • Liaise with the Bronze Commander for shared situational awareness (JESIP)
  • ICP ,specific hazards, PPE, emergency evacuation procedure

Communication

  • Liaise regularly with Bronze Commander, PTO, CCO
  • Update the SMC regularly using ETHANE
  • Brief the Primary Triage Officer
  • Brief all personnel entering the cordon
  • Confirm communication plan with PTO and triage teams.

Assess

  • Confirm hazards and sectorise the scene as needed
  • Requirement for additional personnel / equipment
  • Numbers, types and locations of casualties
  • Transport/equipment requirements for moving casualties from bronze to CCS

Triage

  • Confirm triage tool for bronze zone with PTO
  • Estimate time to triage casualties at scene
  • Keep a log of casualties status and location

Treatment

  • Confirm treatment plan at point of injury
  • Ensure appropriate equipment is provided

Transport

  • Co-ordinate the movement of casualties from the bronze area to the CCS in liaison with the CCO
  • Ensure personnel and resources are available to move casualties to the CCS
  • Keep a log of casualty movement
